FORECASTER: Hilary Smith

SYNOPTIC OVERVIEW: There is a local high pressure system located over the SPADE region that will likely move NE and out of the region over the course of the day. A warm front is located off the west coast of BC. There is a sizeable low still located off the northern west coast near Alaska. The radar is currently showing no precipitation in the SPADE region and will monitored throughout the day for precipitation moving into the area.

The GEM2.5 (0600 UTC May 23) model run is forecasting 1.3 mm of rain to begin at 0100 UTC May 24 and continue until 0500 UTC May 24 with temperature highs around 17°C. Rain is expected to start again around 0300 UTC May 25 and continue overnight. Winds are predicted to be moderate from the SE and shift to W over the course of the day. 

The HRRR and RAP predict rain beginning at 2200 UTC May 24, whereas the NAM predicts no precipitation tonight but significant precipitation occurring overnight Friday MDT. 
Fortress
The GEM2.5 (0600 UTC May 23) model run is forecasting 1.7 mm of rain to begin at 0200 UTC May 24 and continue overnight until 0900 UTC, with trace amounts of precipitation beginning again at 1900 UTC May 24. Temperature highs are expected to be around 9°C and remain above 0°C 0vernight. Winds are predicted to be  moderate from SW this morning and to become light and variable this afternoon/evening. 

The HRRR is showing mixed precipitation to begin at 0000 UTC May 24 and the RAP is predicting rain to begin at 2100 UTC May 23. The NAM is predicting 15.6 mm of mixed precipitation beginning around 2200 UTC May 23 and continuing until 0900 UTC May 24.
