FORECASTERS: Charlie Hébert-Pinard & Hilary Smith
SYNOPTIC OVERVIEW: Low pressure over the Pacific ocean is moving east towards the coast of BC. Several upper level lows over Canada, some of which support that surface low pressure and will allow some showers over the study area. However, only a small amount of rain is expected for the night and we should be affected more considerably starting tomorrow evening. Despite NAM indication, we should not expect any thunderstorms in the next 24h, with a very low CAPE for the three sites.
NIPIKA: GEM 2.5km indicates small amounts of rain for tonight (0.4mm) and tomorrow evening (1.1mm) with temperatures around 15 degrees. Things should get more interesting Friday with larger amounts of rain (and snow according to NAM, but I would not be too optimistic about it!)
FORTRESS: On Fortress side, according to GEM 2.5km, we expect 1.2mm of rain and maybe a trace of snow for tonight, with temperatures between 2 and 7 degrees. It should drop around zero for the next night allowing snow starting at 10pm MDT for a total amount of 3 cm. NAM agrees with those predictions with some small differences in the timing and the amount.
STORM LODGE: Temperatures around 10 degrees in the day and 5 at night. We are expecting 2.6mm of rain for tonight and only a trace of precipitation for tomorrow evening.
